    Call 112
    • Immediately note the licence plates of the vehicles involved.
    • Write down the details of any witnesses.
    • Always take a few photos of the scene and the vehicles with your phone.
    • If nobody is injured, move the vehicles to a safe place, after taking the photographs.
    • The CAI must include: licence plates, date, time and place of the event, insurance and driver details, and the signatures of both drivers.
    • Include the details of any passengers on board the vehicles.
    • If more than two vehicles are involved, fill in several CAI forms, writing all the plates on every form.
    • If you cannot reach an agreement, signing the CAI is not mandatory: each driver can give their own insurer their own version of events.
    • If the authorities intervene, ask them to give you the “exchange of personal details” form (Scambio di Generalità).
